Just finished my six-month training and proficiency check.

Six months ago, we had a LOFT/SPOT training. This time a traditional Appendix E appendix F training and checking.

While the Appendix E traditional training puts the spotlight on technical skills such as knowledge, application of knowledge, Manual and automatic flight. The Line Operational Simulator (LOFT or SPOT) is putting the emphasis on the non-technical skills, Workload management, Situational Awareness, comm decision making etc.

This is an oversimplification of the division between the two. And there is obviously some overlapping.

It is always good to brush away the rust and feel.
